Seguimos en Vitónica con la serie sobre videos de motivación deportiva. En artículos anteriores pudimos ver los vídeos de Versus, en concreto el spot de “Second Place“ y el de “You vs Them“.
En esta ocasión volvemos con otro video de Versus dedicado a aquellos que no son los favoritos o que saben que no son los mejores pero que siempre tienen opción a ganar.

See, what every long shot come from behind underdog will tell you is this. The other guy may in fact be the favorite, the odds maybe stacked against you, fair enough. But what the odds don’t know is this isn’t a math test. This is a completely different kind of test. One where PASSION has a funny way of trumping logic. So before you step up to the starting line, before the whistle blows, and the clock starts ticking. Just remember out here the results don’t always add up. No matter what the stats may say, and the experts may think, and the commentators may have predicted, when the race is on all bets are off. Don’t be surprised if somebody decides to flip the script and take a pass on yelling uncle. And then suddenly as the old saying goes, WE GOT OURSELVES A GAME!
Y a continuación la consecuente traducción en castellano lo mejor que hemos podido, ya sabéis que es imposible traducirlo todo de forma literal.
Aquí está el por qué la vida es tan interesante. La teoría de la evolución afirma que solo los fuertes sobrevivirán. Tal vez sea así, tal vez. Pero la teoría de la competición dice que solo porque sean los fuertes no significa que no se les pueda patear el culo. Así es. Mira, lo que cualquier desamparado que parece que no va a llegar lejos te dira es: “el otro tío puede que de hecho sea el favorito, puede que las probabilidades estén en tu contra”, tienes razón. Pero lo que las probabilidades no saben es que esto no es un test de matemáticas. Esto es un test completamente diferente. Uno en el que la pasión tiene una forma curiosa de superar a la lógica. Así que antes de colocarte en la linea de salida, antes de que suene el silbato y el reloj empiece a contar. Solo recuerda que los resultados no siempre tienen sentido. No importa lo que las estadísticas digan, lo que los expertos puedan pensar, lo que los comentadores puedan haber precedido, cuando la carrera ha empezado las apuestas están cerradas. Que no te sorprenda si alguien decide darle la vuelta al guión y no darse por vencido. Y luego, de repente, como el dicho, “hemos conseguido el juego”.
